What happens during a session?

Many clients contemplate going to therapy for months or even years before making the call. I work to ensure that within the first few moments and few sessions, you begin to feel a trust and rapport building within the therapeutic relationship. Sometimes you will come in with a specific event or feeling that you’d like to work out. Perhaps you are having difficulty at work or with family. Sometimes it will feel like a conversation, sometimes clients cry or rage for the full 50 minutes.

As we work together, you will come to feel more confident. With my full attention, positive regard and empathy, as well as a questioning eye, clients begin to understand themselves better -- and feel they deserve to be heard. After milestones or periods of time, we can look back and see how far you’ve come.

Psychotherapy is a constructive process, in that we build up your ability to feel safe opening up. In my office, you don’t have to entertain or present an ‘attractive’ or aspirational self. You can explore the darkness and shame you may feel. In the psychotherapeutic space, clients can connect with their emotions. Over time, you will feel freer and more in tune with your world.

Let’s start the process today.
