Frequently Asked Questions

is therapy for people with a specific condition?

Not necessarily! Sometimes people begin therapy after a breakup or separation, during times of grief, or realizing that they have patterns they really don’t want to continue.

Other times their friends have been telling them for a while that they’d benefit from therapy - and they’re finally ready. In some cases, you may have received diagnoses already and want to explore how that shows up in your life.

what if i don’t know what to talk about?

In each session we deal with your present day issues, successes, and anxieties — which may spark a realization that you’re in a familiar pattern from your history.

My job is to track what’s happening in your life, how it links to your past experiences and core beliefs about yourself. In my experience, no one ever has nothing to talk about!

what is your professional experience?

My professional experience is in healthcare education, and sexual/reproductive health. I have worked with marginalized communities to amplify and empower their voices. I believe strongly in the principles of harm reduction, disability rights, anti-poverty, and queer and trans positivity.

I am a member of the Canadian Association for Psychodynamic Therapy (CAPT) and am regulated by their standards of practice.

what kind of therapy do you practice?

I completed my training as a psychotherapist at the Toronto Institute for Relational Psychotherapy. Relational psychotherapy sees people in their context and acknowledges that different parts of the self are activated in different situations and relationships.

I work with couples and individuals who want to explore how to connect better with others, and to deal healthily with the issues that can rule their life.

are you covered by insurance?

As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I am covered by most insurance plans. I provide receipts for every session and am happy to speak to your insurance company directly to confirm, if needed.
