My practice is client centred -- I believe you are the expert of your own experience. With my open, non-judgemental support, clients can vigorously examine themselves and their relationships. I empathize deeply with clients, ask questions, observe patterns, and occasionally explore ???? Over time, this allows you to shift your understanding of what is happening with and to you.
Therapy throws light into dark places and ultimately allows us to communicate better, and to manage our emotions and reactions. This doesn’t mean that you won’t ever feel sad or angry, but with supportive therapy, these emotions become easier to handle.
I am completing my training as a psychotherapist at the Toronto Institute of Relational Psychotherapy. Relational psychotherapy sees people in their context and acknowledges that different parts of the self are activated in different situations and relationships. My professional experience includes community development and education in the fields of health (focused on nutrition, sexual and reproductive health, and HIV prevention), anti-oppression, and women’s issues. I have worked with marginalized communities to amplify and empower their voices. I believe strongly in the principles of harm reduction, disability rights, anti-poverty, and queer and trans positivity.
